My Shopping List: Casual Games are Great!

My apologies for the lack of posts.  I have been busy with songwriting lately. However, I managed to complete Root Letter, a game which I grew fond of and I enjoyed the genre a lot (visual novel games).   For one, I enjoy books and good stories. Visual novel games have it all for me at the moment: light gameplay and not too mentally strenuous.  Because after a long day, the last thing I want to do is play a difficult game.  I must say I am very happy with my time management for games. I learned that opting for casual games actually balanced my stress level.  But I must confess, I do get the urge to play more difficult games from time to time.

Due to a decrease in gaming time, I became somewhat of a game collector. Still looking for those hidden gems but probably will not enjoy it to its max. So, I’ll share a list of games that I have been looking at:

  1. Zero Escape: The Nonary Games

2. Exist Archive : The Other Side of the Sky

3. Assault Suit Leynos

I know most of them are Playstation games. I am not at all bias towards a particular gaming platform, I just can’t afford to own every system at the moment and have time to appreciate it.  And my gaming passion is not about collecting games, I am actually collecting ideas. We are living in the Information Age and I just happened to grow up in a video game culture just like many of you folks. New ideas are not dead–they are just delivered in the form of video games.

My final thought for the post, I’m almost done with Nier Automata.  My brother and friend are bugging me about the game because I am taking forever to complete it.  I have a lot of things to say about it, but it takes time to gather my thoughts.  I am a bit overwhelmed with the game because it’s so philosophical.  Big concepts require time to digest. I am finding myself more and more taking frequent breaks to pause and reflect on what I am playing (I do this with books as well).   I will not 100 percent the game because I just don’t have time.   But my next post will surely be about Nier Automata.

Until next time, thanks for reading!

There is nothing wrong with taking time to finish a game! I still haven’t finished the last Trespasser DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition, simply because I’m so emotionally attached to the game series and I am not ready for it to end. I had some of it spoiled for me and I’m not ready for that kind of emotional strain, not after loving the series for 8 years or so.

Nothing wrong with games that aren’t incredibly emotionally taxing! I actually really want to play The Nonary Games… Do you like it?

Haven’t played the game yet. Backlog kept getting bigger for this reason, but I really want to play it as well. I think I will buy it very soon. 🙂

I have had a bit of a problem in May, I can’t seem to get into any game at all due to stress levels but I might try to do the same thing as you and pick a game that’s a big more casual! Although I tried playing a visual novel but my brain wonders and then I realize I did not remember at least half of what has happened. Also, games are all about making you enjoy yourself and have fun, I feel the same about Automata, it’s been 2 months since I have finished it but I still look back at it, I think that’s what games should be though? maybe? I mean it feels like all the money and time that I have spent on Automata was really worth it seeing as it was not forgotten after these 2 months. I am looking forward to seeing your post on it, too! 🙂

Ah, do try Nonary Games, it’s actually one of my favorite series! I haven’t picked up the Vita version since I would love to own it physically but that requires importing and I can’t afford it at the moment. However, I have played the 3DS version of 999 and it was fantastic! (as well as the other two on the vita). The sprites in the 3DS version look more appealing to me but I would love to experience the new “hd” release. The puzzles and characters are great, and so is the story. However, i really makes you think and a lot is going on so I would recommend to play it when you feel like playing a mystery puzzle game but it is really a game worth experiencing. The sequels don’t quite live up to the first game but they’re still worth playing!

Sometimes that happened to me too. I will be playing something or watching something and my mind begins to wander. I think perhaps, it is better to switch genre from time to time? I am relatively new to visual novel games so Root Letter was refreshing to me. I tried to look for games that make me laugh. Laughing is a good way to release stress 🙂

I like genuine games such as Nier Automata as well and want to see more original games in the future. It is not just a game. The product itself speaks for our time. Sometimes I see explosive machines in the game as suicide bombers-hard not to notice it. I feel that the video game medium is maturing and evolving positively even though it was sort of stagnant for awhile. And thank you, I will gather my thoughts soon. I am happy that you are looking forward to it 🙂

Also, thank you for suggesting the Nonary games. I’m excited to give it a shot! 🙂

I enjoyed Root Letter too, even if some of the endings are really wacky. You should make the time to play The Nonary Games because the trilogy has an awesome story.

Thanks! I’ve been looking at it for a long time but I feel so guilty because I have other games to beat. But secretly, I really want to play it ASAP. I will get it soon!

I haven’t gotten other endings in Root Letter, but I enjoyed it a lot. It was refreshing for me.
